April is the most balanced month: warm days, mild nights, pools open and the desert still comfortable. It has no single dominant event, but spring break and trade shows keep it busy and expensive throughout.
May is pool season. Afternoons reach the low 30s, the dayclubs run every weekend, and hiking becomes an early-morning affair.

Solo Travellers
Hike Red Rock's Calico Tanks or Ice Box Canyon in March, when the seasonal waterfalls may still run after a wet winter, then explore downtown's Arts District and the Neon Museum after dark.
Couples
Drive the Valley of Fire loop in the late afternoon, take a dinner with a view of the Strip, and spend a lazy pool day at a resort in May.
The Bellagio Conservatory has its spring display.
Families
Hoover Dam, a boat trip on Lake Mead and the resort pools with slides and lazy rivers suit April and May.
The Shark Reef Aquarium is a cool retreat on a hot afternoon.
Groups

#Getting Around
From Harry Reid International Airport, a taxi or rideshare reaches the Strip quickly outside rush hour.
The Deuce runs along the Boulevard day and night, and the Las Vegas Monorail runs behind the east-side resorts to the Convention Center.
Spring is the one season when walking the Strip at midday is comfortable, though the distances are longer than they look.
For the desert you need a car: Red Rock Canyon is about 30 minutes west, with timed entry for the Scenic Drive between 8am and 5pm until 31 May, and Valley of Fire is about an hour north-east.

- Do not photograph other players at the tables.

On windy days, stay off exposed ridges. The Strip is well policed; use a rideshare after midnight rather than walking between far-apart resorts.
