The Heat Does Not Empty It
July in Las Vegas runs past 40°C, and the crowd falls only to moderate. That is the fact that explains the city: almost everything it sells happens indoors in air conditioning, so the desert outside is a detail rather than a season. It is the one destination on this site with no quiet month at any point in the year.
Autumn and Spring Are for the Desert, Not the Strip
October is the pick, and March and April are the near-equal alternative: days in the twenties, dry skies and the low light that makes the red rock country an hour out of town worth the drive. If the trip is only ever going to be the Boulevard, the month matters far less than the midweek-or-weekend question. If you intend to leave the city at all, these are the months to do it in.
Summer Is Cheapest and Least Comfortable
June through September is when rates fall furthest, because the pools are the only sensible destination between eleven and four. The buildings are comfortable and the distances between them are not: the Strip runs about four miles and the walk between two resorts that look adjacent is longer than the photographs suggest, which is a different proposition at 40°C.
Our Las Vegas Guides
The weather decides what you do outdoors here and almost nothing about what you do indoors, which is the premise of all sixteen guides and the event pages.
