November is the quiet one. The weather has settled into something genuinely mild, 20°C by afternoon and 9°C at night, the convention calendar thins after the first half, and the city is calmer than at any point since February.

The exception is Thanksgiving week at the end of the month, which is its own event with its own prices.

#Weather in Las Vegas in November

Las Vegas in November averages 9–20°C (48–68°F) with around 2 days of rain, and crowds are medium-high.

Days reach about 20°C with nights near 9°C, and rain averages two days. The mildness is real but so is the drop after dark: the dry desert air loses heat fast, and a November evening on the Strip wants a proper layer.

The days are noticeably short by the end of the month, which matters more for the desert than for the city. Sunset comes early enough that an afternoon trail needs watching.

#What to Do in Las Vegas in November

The canyons, at their most comfortable. Red Rock about 27 kilometres west and Valley of Fire roughly 80 north-east are arguably better in November than October: cooler for the walking, and quieter.

Shows, easily. Mid-November is among the easier and cheaper windows of the year for a good seat midweek, before the December holiday calendar arrives.

The Strip in the evening. Short days mean the lights come on early, which lengthens the part of the day the city does best.

Thanksgiving, if you are here for it. The last week fills, the dining rooms move to fixed menus, and the city runs at holiday capacity.

#Getting Around

Comfortable throughout. The Strip walks easily, the Deuce and the monorail run as always, and the convention crush eases considerably after the first fortnight.

This is a good month to have a car, because the desert is excellent and the drives are pleasant rather than an ordeal at either end of the day.

#Budget & Costs

November splits. The first three weeks are good value, quieter and cheaper than October, with the convention calendar thinning. Thanksgiving week is among the more expensive stretches of the year.

The resort fee and 13.38% room tax apply throughout.

Mid-November midweek is one of the better value windows in the whole calendar, and unlike October the midweek discount actually works.

#Food & Dining

The first three weeks are among the easier of the year for reservations. The last week is not: Thanksgiving books out the rooms worth eating at well in advance and many switch to a set menu at a set price.

Chinatown on Spring Mountain Road stays the best value in the city, and November evenings are mild enough for its patios most nights.

#Nightlife

A quieter month for the clubs, with residencies running and the crowds thinner than either side of it. The pool scene is finished.

Downtown does well in November: mild enough to be outside between venues, and cheaper than the Strip in every respect.

#Shopping

The discounting begins in late November with the American sale weekend after Thanksgiving, which is the deepest of the year outside January. Before that it is full-price autumn stock.

Sales tax is added at the till rather than shown on the label.

#Culture & Etiquette

Tipping is structural: fifteen to twenty per cent at a table, a dollar or two a drink, cash for housekeeping.

Casino floors are built to keep you on them, and dress codes at clubs and the better dining rooms are enforced.

November adds the layer problem that runs through the cool half of the year: interiors are warm, outdoors is cold after dark, and you carry a coat you only want outside. Coat checks exist at most large venues.

#Safety & Health

The mild temperature is the quiet risk, because it removes the prompt to drink. The air is as dry in November as in July and a long trail dehydrates people who never feel hot.

Daylight is the desert hazard. Days are short, temperatures fall quickly after sunset, and a trail that felt comfortable at two is cold and dark by five.

In the city, the usual applies.
