The Most Weather-Dependent Trip
The Maldives is the most weather-dependent destination in our collection, and choosing between the dry season and the green season is the single most important decision you'll make.
The Dry Season (Nov–Apr)
The dry season is the Maldives of postcards: calm turquoise seas, clear skies, low humidity, and underwater visibility regularly exceeding 30 metres. December through March is the peak — the most expensive and the most spectacular.
The Green Season (May–Oct)
The green season is the hidden opportunity: resort prices drop 30–60%, manta ray season peaks at Hanifaru Bay from June to October, the landscape turns vivid green, and the rain — mostly short tropical bursts — is far less disruptive than its reputation suggests. Savvy travellers choose early November (improving weather, off-season pricing) or May–June (manta rays, low rates, manageable rain) as the smartest windows of the year.
Our Maldives Guides
Our 14 Maldives guides cover both seasons and every month in full — including honest assessments of the rain, the value, and the marine life calendar.
