It has run since the nineteenth century, it draws crowds in the hundreds of thousands, and it is a devotional act rather than a production.
⚠️ Go understanding what it is. Watch respectfully, ask before photographing people, and accept no. Go early, expect heat and very large crowds, and treat the transport out as the hard part of the day.
Early starts, everywhere
Teotihuacán, Xochimilco and the Centro all need to be morning plans in April. The pyramids in particular are exposed, unshaded and unpleasant after eleven.
Chapultepec and the museums
