Dubai in November offers some of the best conditions of the year, ideal for Diwali visitors, outdoor enthusiasts & f1 buildup. Expect temperatures of 16–31°C, around 0 days of rain, and high crowds across the city. Daily budgets typically land around AED 350–3,500+ for mid-range travellers. Book accommodation two to three months ahead — the most popular rooms sell out fast during peak visiting windows.

#Weather & Climate

November is when Dubai settles into its golden season.

Highs drop from approximately 31°C early in the month to 26°C by month-end; lows fall from 21°C to 16°C overnight per NCM (UAE National Center of Meteorology) normals.

Sea temperatures hold at 28°C (warmer than the air; beach swimming peaks now). The sky stays reliably clear and deep blue.

Rainfall averages just 3mm across the month: essentially zero rain days are typical, though once or twice a decade a heavy storm front rolls through (Nov 2022 and Nov 2024 both saw genuine deluges). UV stays significant through early-mid November before easing late-month.

The combination of beach weather, outdoor dining, evening events, and long blue-hour photography windows makes the city feel at its full outdoor potential.

Sunset at 5:35pm-5:45pm, and evenings cool to 18-22°C which is the temperature Dubai's outdoor spaces were designed for. Humidity drops from summer's punishing 70-90% to a manageable 40-60% range.

Local tip: Plan one specific blue-hour shoot per trip (around 5:15-5:50pm in early November, edging earlier through the month). Dubai's signature photographs (Burj Khalifa with sky cyan vs gold lights, Marina from the JBR walkway, Souk Madinat with the Burj Al Arab silhouette) all come into their own in that 35-minute window when November's clear air gives the city its most-photographed light of the year.

Diwali 2026: Festival of Lights (Nov 6-10)

Diwali 2026 falls Sunday November 8 (the main day; the broader 5-day festival runs Fri Nov 6 Dhanteras - Tue Nov 10 Bhai Dooj). Dubai's growing Indian community (~35% of the UAE population is Indian-origin) celebrates openly.

Visit Dubai's "Festival of Lights" runs Nov 2-12, 2026 with city-wide programming. Major venues:

  • BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi (inaugurated 2024, 1-hour drive from Dubai): the flagship celebration with traditional aarti, devotional music, free entry; arrive by 4pm for evening prayers + light displays
  • Hindu Temple Dubai (Jebel Ali): modern temple with capacity for 1,000+ worshippers; major Lakshmi Puja ceremonies Diwali night
  • Global Village Indian Pavilion: fireworks + cultural performances + Diwali sweets stalls (entry AED 25 weekday / AED 30 weekend; see Global Village section below)
  • Souk Al Seef + Karama + Meena Bazaar (Bur Dubai): neighbourhood-level decorations + restaurant promotions + late shopping through Bhai Dooj
  • Burj Khalifa runs Diwali-themed LED light projections from Nov 6-10 (free public viewing from Dubai Mall Fountain)
  • Downtown Dubai + City Walk: synchronised cultural shows + diya-lighting ceremonies

Local tip: Trèsind Studio + Avatara + Bombay Brasserie + Indego by Vineet all release special Diwali tasting menus 2-3 weeks ahead of the festival (AED 350-650 per person). Book by mid-October for guaranteed festival-week tables. The Diwali atmosphere at these restaurants exceeds the actual food (staff dress traditionally, marigold garlands, sweets-and-coffee finish) and they're the easiest way for non-Indian visitors to experience the festival meaningfully.

Global Village Season 31 (2026-27)

Season 31 opens late October 2026 (specific opening date released ~6 weeks ahead; Season 30 ran Oct 15, 2025 - May 31, 2026 with the season extended 6 weeks).

November is Global Village at peak operational status: weather perfect (24°C evenings), 90+ country pavilions fully stocked with the season's freshest inventory, evening entertainment programme at full capacity.

Entry AED 25 Sun-Thu / AED 30 Fri-Sat; free for under-3s, over-65s, and people of determination via globalvillage.ae. Weekday evenings (Sun-Wed) are dramatically less crowded than weekends.

Common mistake: Visiting on Friday or Saturday night without a plan. Queue times at the most-photographed pavilions (Yemen for ouds, Egypt for spices, Tunisia for ceramics) can hit 30-45 minutes. Visit Tue or Wed evening 5-9pm for a near-empty experience; aim for Yemen for the souk-style atmosphere, Iran for caviar and saffron, Turkey for ceramics that consistently beat Grand Bazaar prices, and the Floating Market for live entertainment.

Black Friday 2026: Fri Nov 27

Friday November 27, 2026 is the regional Black Friday peak. The UAE retail calendar fragments this into multiple labels: Black Friday (international brands), White Friday (Souq/Amazon-led regional rename since 2015), Yellow Friday (Noon.com's branded variant).

The actual sales window extends Nov 23-30, 2026 (8 days) across:

  • The Dubai Mall + Mall of the Emirates + Dubai Hills Mall: flagship participation; up to 75% off premium brands; doors open early for "midnight madness" Thu Nov 26 22:00 - Fri Nov 27 02:00
  • Outlet Village (Jebel Ali) + The Outlet (Burjuman): already discounted brands take another 30-50% off
  • Noon.com + Amazon.ae + Namshi.com + Ounass.com: full online ecosystem participation; Sigma Beauty, Sephora, Bath & Body Works, Apple all run aggressive electronics promos

Common mistake: Carrying multiple cards without notifying issuers. November is also the peak month for card-blocked-for-suspicious-foreign-activity events. Notify your bank before leaving home, and carry one cash backup (AED 500-1,000) for the cash-only Gold Souk where bargaining + cash payment can land 20-30% lower prices than card.

F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2026 Build-Up (Race Dec 3-6)

The actual race is Dec 3-6, 2026 at Yas Marina Circuit (Friday practice → Saturday qualifying → Sunday race): November 2026 visitors miss the race itself but catch the buildup week as the paddock sets up + hotel rates begin spiking.

The Yasalam After-Race Concerts 2026 lineup at Etihad Park (Yas Island, gates 6pm, shows 8:30-9pm):

  • Thu Dec 3: Benson Boone + Zara Larsson + Lewis Capaldi
  • Fri Dec 4: Post Malone + Elyanna
  • Sat Dec 5: Metallica
  • Sun Dec 6: Katy Perry headlining
  • Sat Dec 6 separately: Afterlife at Yas Gateway Park (Tale Of Us + Anyma + MRAK debut)

Tickets via abudhabigp.com include all four nights of Yasalam concerts.

November visitors planning to extend to Dec 3-6 should book before mid-October. General Admission tickets from approximately AED 1,200 (3-day pass), Main Grandstand AED 3,500-5,000, Paddock Club AED 18,000+. Yas Marina hotel rates jump 3-5x for race weekend.

Local-tip on the Yas Island day-trip from Dubai in late November: 1-hour drive via E11 (AED 250-350 taxi one-way; AED 100-150 per person for group shuttle).

The Yas Marina Circuit runs public driving experiences in November + first week of December (book before paddock locks down for race week, ~AED 1,800 per person for a 3-lap drive in a Formula 4 trainer car). Combine with Ferrari World or Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi for a full day.

Dubai Airshow Correction (NOT in 2026; next 2027)

The Dubai Airshow is biennial (held in odd-numbered years only). The 2025 edition ran Nov 17-21, 2025 at DWC (Al Maktoum International Airport).

The next Dubai Airshow is November 15-19, 2027 (19th edition). November 2026 has NO Airshow; older travel guides treating it as an annual November event are wrong.

Common mistake: Booking a Nov 2026 trip specifically for the Airshow. The 19th edition is November 2027. November 2026 visitors instead get the F1 buildup week (Yas Marina paddock setup), Diwali, Black Friday, and the lead-up to UAE National Day Dec 2-3.

UAE National Day Build-Up (55th National Day, Dec 2-3, 2026)

Across late November, Dubai's streets, malls, and buildings transform with UAE flag installations, "Spirit of the Union" decorations, and the green/red/white/black colour scheme.

National Day 2026 is the 55th anniversary (UAE founded Dec 2, 1971).

The 2-day official holiday Wed Dec 2 - Thu Dec 3, 2026 creates a 5-day long weekend with the Sat-Sun bookends: last week of November sees Dubai's domestic travel pick up sharply as Emiratis travel between emirates.

Late-November visitors catch the buildup atmosphere but miss the actual fireworks (Burj Khalifa LED flag display, Downtown fireworks, Abu Dhabi Corniche, Sharjah Al Majaz Waterfront, Dubai Festival City).

The most spectacular pre-Dec 2 sight is mid-late November flag installations on the Burj Khalifa: the world's tallest building turns into a 162-floor UAE flag for sunset light displays.

Kite Beach + Outdoor Sights at Peak Conditions

Kite Beach (1.4km between Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah) hits its most photogenic conditions in mid-November: 26°C air + 28°C sea + 5:45pm golden-hour light + Burj Al Arab visible to the north. Food trucks operate from 5pm (açai bowls, fresh juice, Turkish gözleme). Free, no booking, no admission.

Dubai Creek boat life (Al Seef to Deira) runs on cool morning windows that aren't available 8 months of the year.

Take the RTA water bus from Al Seef along the creek to the Gold Souk wharf in Deira (AED 2 per ride), walk the Gold Souk (November mornings 9am-noon are the best time of year for this; AED-USD pegged 3.6725 so prices are completely transparent), cross back by traditional abra (AED 1 per crossing). 2-hour circuit, total cost under AED 5.

Hatta day trip: the mountain enclave 100km east of Dubai in the Hajar Mountains. The dam kayaking + mountain biking trails are at their November best (20°C in mountains vs 28°C in city). Heritage village, honey bee garden, mountain restaurant.

Al Marmoom Overnight Glamping + Desert Safari

The November night temperature (18°C at midnight, 22°C at 9pm) is genuinely perfect for sleeping under desert stars.

Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve runs premium glamping with proper en-suite tents, full bedding, on-site dining, and dawn camel/falconry programmes. Arabian oryx active at dawn. Book through Platinum Heritage or Royal Shaheen (approximately AED 1,200-2,500 per person all-inclusive overnight).

Standard desert safari with sandboarding + camel ride + sunset dunes + BBQ dinner runs AED 250-450 per person for the half-day evening experience (4pm pickup, 9-10pm return). November is the year's busiest desert safari month; book 5-7 days ahead.

Expo City + Museum of the Future

Expo City Dubai (legacy of Expo 2020 Dubai) has been converted into a permanent urban destination at Al Wasl. Al Wasl Plaza dome is one of the most architecturally striking structures in the UAE. November outdoor programming uses the extensive public spaces (Family Friday markets, evening concerts, light installations). Free public access; specific attractions ticketed.

Museum of the Future (Sheikh Zayed Road, opposite Emirates Towers): AED 159 standard adult ticket via museumofthefuture.ae. Timed entry. The exterior calligraphic torus + the interior immersive exhibitions are Dubai's strongest indoor attraction; November queue times average 20-30 minutes vs 60+ in winter peak weeks.

#Food & Dining

Fresh produce and Middle Eastern dining, Dubai
Fresh produce and Middle Eastern dining, Dubai

November is when Dubai's full dining calendar fires back to capacity. The Michelin Guide Dubai 2026 was published in May 2026 with 19 starred restaurants in Dubai (up from 14 in 2025), with Trèsind Studio (Nakheel Mall) retaining 2 Michelin stars + ranked #14 in Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2025.

Trèsind Studio: Tasting-only progressive Indian, AED 850-1,200 per person, book 6-8 weeks ahead via the Dubai Holding portal. November tasting menu opens with the autumn collection.

Ossiano (Atlantis The Palm): Underwater dining at The Lost Chambers Aquarium, Chef Grégoire Berger's 2-star Michelin progressive seafood. AED 950-1,650 tasting. Books 4-6 weeks ahead; window-side booth requires 8-10 weeks notice.

STAY by Yannick Alléno (One&Only The Palm): French Michelin chef's Dubai outpost; full winter menu launches November. Beach-villa setting. AED 700-1,200 per person; book 3 weeks ahead.

Nusr-Et Steakhouse (DIFC): Salt Bae's original Dubai location is genuinely one of the better steakhouses beyond the showmanship. Tomahawk + Turkish-cut Ottoman steak; AED 850-2,500 per person; bookable 1 week ahead in November vs 3-week January requirement.

Comptoir 102 (Jumeirah): Organic café and concept store at its November best when terrace operates fully + Mediterranean autumn produce menu launches. AED 150-280 per person; mid-range.

Seven Sands (Mall of the Emirates): Emirati cuisine showcase: balaleet (sweet vermicelli with eggs), machboos (spiced rice with meat), khanfaroosh doughnuts. AED 180-300 per person; mid-range, ideal for first-time UAE visitors.

Bu Qtair (Jumeirah, behind the Burj Al Arab fish market): Locals'-favourite no-frills fish restaurant. The afternoon-catch grilled hammour with paratha + ginger-coriander sauce. AED 60-120 per person. No bookings, queue from 7pm.

#Nightlife

November nightlife is Dubai at its most complete: full outdoor circuit operating (beach clubs, rooftop bars, outdoor terraces), indoor venues fully staffed, the period between Diwali (Nov 6-10) and National Day (Dec 2-3) often considered the peak social fortnight of the Dubai calendar.

Soho Beach (JBR): The beach club version of Soho Garden. November sunset sessions Thu-Sat are the most sought-after tickets in Dubai nightlife. Tables AED 1,500-5,000 minimum spend.

Cé La Vi Dubai (Address Sky View): 54th-floor rooftop with the most direct Burj Khalifa view in the city. AED 1,000-3,000 table minimum; book any Friday in November at least 10 days ahead.

Iris Dubai (Business Bay): Sister rooftop bar to Cé La Vi with slightly more affordable AED 600-1,500 table minimum. November evenings at Iris with the tower lit and the bay below reflecting it are reliably spectacular.

Clé Dubai (DIFC): Sophisticated cocktail bar, after-dinner stop for Dubai's finance and media communities. November launches the winter events programme with international musicians and DJs.

MEDIA ONE Hotel rooftop + Pier 7 (Marina): The mid-tier night out for visitors who want Marina views without the Cé La Vi entry fee. AED 200-500 per person for the evening including 3-4 drinks.

#Shopping

November is the best fashion and lifestyle shopping month in Dubai. Full winter collections in stock, Global Village peak inventory, Black Friday Nov 27, National Day Dec 2 promotional events building. The Gold Souk in November mornings is at its most atmospheric of the year.

Gold Souk (Deira, morning): Nov 9am-noon is the most comfortable and best-stocked window of the year. Bargain on the making charge for custom jewellery; the daily gold rate is fixed by the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (gold rate posted on dgjg.org daily).

Dubai Mall: The flagship; 1,200 stores, the Dubai Aquarium (AED 135 standard), the Fountain Show (free, every 30 min from 6pm). Black Friday Nov 27-30 brings 30-75% across mid-tier brands; flagship couture stores typically discount 20-30%.

Mall of the Emirates: Ski Dubai (AED 295 standard), 700+ stores, Black Friday from Nov 24 onwards. The most curated luxury floor (Magrabi + Tiffany + Bulgari + Cartier).

d3 (Dubai Design District) winter season: Independent boutiques, concept stores, studio-galleries reopen their full October-April programming in November. Where Dubai's most interesting independent fashion + jewellery + design work is concentrated.

Souk Madinat Jumeirah evening: Most atmospheric retail setting in Dubai for handmade crafts, regional art, quality food products. November evenings (24°C) with waterways lit and Burj Al Arab visible above the souk walls create an experience that can't be replicated in a mall.

#Culture & Etiquette

  • UAE National Day Dec 2-3 (55th anniversary) preparations well underway from mid-late November. Buildings + vehicles + malls + government offices decorated with UAE flag. Spirit of national pride is visible; visitors showing interest are warmly received
  • Diwali Nov 6-10, 2026 (main day Sun Nov 8) celebrated openly by Dubai's large Indian community. Gold Souk + Karama + Meena Bazaar areas particularly festive
  • Black Friday Nov 27 = peak retail crowd day; Dubai Mall + Mall of the Emirates can hit fire-marshal-watch crowd density 7-10pm. Visit before 11am or after 10pm
  • F1 buildup late November = significant hotel availability tightening on Yas Island (Abu Dhabi) but minimal impact on Dubai itself until Dec 1
  • Outdoor season means dress codes at beach clubs + outdoor restaurants + rooftop bars are more visible. Smart casual is the minimum for almost all evening venues
  • No Dubai Airshow in 2026 (biennial; next Nov 15-19, 2027). Don't book the trip specifically for this in 2026
  • Modest dress required in mosques + religious sites + government buildings + Sharjah emirate (stricter than Dubai). Covered shoulders + knees minimum
  • Public displays of affection beyond hand-holding are illegal. Couples should be discreet
  • Alcohol only at licensed venues (hotels + DIFC + Marina restaurants + beach clubs). No public consumption. Tourist liquor permit no longer required since 2023
  • Tipping 10-15% at restaurants (often included as "service charge"); round up taxi fares; AED 5-20 per service for hotel staff
  • Photography: Government buildings, military installations, palaces, and some Emiratis (especially women) may object to being photographed; always ask permission

#Getting Around

Dubai International Airport (DXB) connects to the city via the Metro Red Line: Terminal 3 to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall in 40-45 minutes (AED 8.50-12). Trains run 05:00 - 00:00 Sun-Wed; 05:00 - 01:00 Thu; 10:00 - 00:00 Fri.

Buy a Nol Card (AED 25 including AED 19 credit) at any Metro station; it works on Metro, bus, tram, ferry.

Taxis from DXB: AED 65-100 to Downtown, fully metered, reliable.

Careem/Bolt/Uber all operate; 10-20% cheaper than metered taxis off-peak. In November's cool season (20-25°C evenings) the Creek + Marina + Downtown areas are walkable.

Palm Jumeirah Monorail (AED 10) connects to tram network at Dubai Marina Mall.

Etihad Rail intercity passenger network: Phase 1 of the long-anticipated UAE intercity passenger train (Abu Dhabi ↔ Dubai ↔ Fujairah) expected to launch later in 2026 per Etihad Rail's official announcement.

57-minute Abu Dhabi-Dubai journey at 200km/h max when operational.

As of May 2026, the exact launch date for passenger services is still pending; check etihadrail.ae close to travel date. Freight services have been operational since 2023. A separate 150km high-speed line (Abu Dhabi-Dubai in 30 minutes at 350km/h) was announced in 2025, targeting 2030.

Common mistake: Assuming Etihad Rail passenger services are bookable for November 2026. Until the official launch is confirmed, plan for the standard E11 highway route (taxi AED 250-350 one-way, group shuttle AED 100-150 per person, RTA bus AED 25, 1-hour drive).

#Packing List

  • Light to mid-weight clothing (16-31°C range across November; early month warmer than late)
  • Light jacket or wrap for evenings (18-22°C by 10pm; final week feels properly cool)
  • Smart-casual outfit for rooftop bars + beach clubs + Michelin-starred restaurants (mandatory for evening venues)
  • Swimwear: beach clubs fully operational, sea temperature 28°C
  • High-SPF sunscreen (UV significant through early-mid November before easing)
  • Sunglasses (essential; clear-sky days mean intense UV reflection from concrete + sand)
  • Comfortable walking shoes for Deira + Global Village (long-distance evenings)
  • Modest cover-up for transitions between beach and souk areas (covered shoulders + knees for souk + mosque visits)
  • Power adapter Type G (British 3-pin standard; 220-240V)
  • Reusable water bottle (Dubai's tap water is safe but tastes heavily chlorinated; most locals drink bottled)
  • Light fleece or scarf for the desert overnight + Hatta mountain day-trip

#Backup Plans

If the F1 Abu Dhabi GP buildup fills Yas Island hotels: The Jumeirah Beach area (JBR, Palm Jumeirah) hotels are significantly less affected than the Yas Island and Abu Dhabi conference circuit. Book Dubai-side beach accommodation if dates overlap with Dec 3-6 race week.

If Global Village is overwhelmingly crowded on a Friday or Saturday: Shift to Tuesday or Wednesday evening; the experience is identical but queue times at food stalls and entrance reduce significantly mid-week.

Local-tip: Sun-Wed have the same AED 25 entry vs AED 30 weekend.

If the Hatta day trip is rained out (rare but possible in November; once or twice a decade Dubai sees a genuine November storm): The Ras Al Khaimah mountain area (1.5 hours north) is an alternative mountain day with Jebel Jais cable car (world's longest at 2.8km) and the ice-cave experience at the RAK mountain base. Drier climate than Hatta + genuinely spectacular Hajar Mountains terrain.

If Diwali festivities are too crowded at Burj Khalifa or Global Village: Souk Madinat Jumeirah evenings offer a quieter cultural setting with the waterways lit + Burj Al Arab silhouette.

Etihad Museum + Al Shindagha Historical Neighborhood are quieter indoor cultural alternatives.

#Budget & Costs

November marks the return to peak season pricing.

Hotel rates climb 20-30% from October as weather turns perfect + events calendar fills + Diwali/Black Friday/National Day buildup creates layered demand.

AED-USD peg holds at 3.6725 (constant since 1997 per CBUAE), so USD/EUR foreign-currency budgeting is fully predictable.

Accommodation (November 2026):

  • Budget Deira/Bur Dubai 3-star: AED 250-450/night (slightly above Oct rates)
  • Mid-range Marina/Downtown 4-star: AED 600-1,400/night (Black Friday Nov 27-30 can spike +20-40%)
  • Luxury 5-star (Atlantis, Burj Al Arab, One&Only): AED 2,500-15,000/night (last week of November: F1 buildup pulls premium rates higher)
  • Tourism Dirham fee: AED 7-20/room/night based on hotel class (5-star AED 20, 4-star AED 15, 3-star AED 10, budget AED 7-10); auto-added to bill; capped at 30 consecutive nights

Daily budget guide:

  • Shoestring AED 350-550 (USD $95-150): Deira hotel + shawarma + Metro + free attractions
  • Mid-range AED 900-1,800 (USD $245-490): Marina hotel + casual dining + occasional desert safari + Global Village
  • Luxury AED 3,500+ (USD $950+): Premium hotel + Michelin dining + rooftop bars + chauffeur

Food & dining:

  • Pakistani/Indian thali at Karama AED 25-40
  • Shawarma + falafel AED 10-25
  • Food court lunch at malls AED 30-50
  • Mid-range restaurant (Comptoir 102, Seven Sands) AED 150-300pp
  • Fine dining (STAY, Nusr-Et, Ossiano, Trèsind Studio) AED 700-2,500+pp

Activities & attractions (2026 verified):

  • Burj Khalifa 5-tier pricing: AED 159 sunrise (5-6:30am) / AED 179 morning + late evening / AED 259 prime hour 3-7pm / AED 449 Gold (Levels 124+125+148) / AED 769 Platinum (Levels 152-154 ultra-premium lounge).

UAE residents 20% off with promo code SAVE20 via atthetop.ae

  • Dubai Frame: AED 50 standard
  • Dubai Aquarium + Underwater Zoo: AED 135 standard combo
  • Museum of the Future: AED 159 standard adult
  • Global Village: AED 25 Sun-Thu / AED 30 Fri-Sat (free under-3s + over-65s + people of determination)
  • Desert safari (sunset BBQ): AED 250-450 per person
  • Overnight glamping at Al Marmoom: AED 1,200-2,500 per person all-inclusive
  • Burj Al Arab Inside the Burj tour (no dining): AED 449

Transport:

  • Metro single-zone trip AED 3
  • Multi-zone Metro/bus AED 5-8.50
  • Nol Silver Card AED 25 (with AED 19 credit)
  • RTA bus AED 3-5
  • Taxi flagfall AED 12; per km AED 1.82
  • Careem/Uber 10-20% cheaper than metered taxis off-peak

Tipping: 10-15% at restaurants if service not included; round up taxi fares; AED 5-20 per service for hotel staff.

November represents the last window before December's premium pricing (Dec 1 hotel rates jump another 30-50%; NYE corridor Dec 28-Jan 2 is the year's most expensive).

#Safety & Health

November's temperatures of 16-31°C are ideal: no heat-related risks and comfortable conditions for all outdoor activities. Dubai is among the world's safest cities with strict law enforcement and virtually no violent crime. Standard cultural rules: dress modestly outside beach and pool areas (covered shoulders and knees), no public displays of affection, alcohol only at licensed venues, swearing and rude gestures are illegal (can result in fines or deportation for visitors).

Tap water is safe but tastes heavily chlorinated; most visitors drink bottled.

Emergency numbers: 999 (police), 998 (ambulance), 997 (fire), 901 (non-emergency police).

Medications: Pharmacies are well-stocked, but certain medications are controlled or banned.

Bring a doctor's letter for any prescription drug + carry medications in original packaging. The UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention requires advance approval (via moh.gov.ae) for codeine, certain sleeping pills, ADHD stimulants, CBD/cannabis products, certain psychiatric medications. The "carry less than 30 days supply + bring prescription" rule is the practical guideline. Vape pens + e-cigarettes are legal as of October 2019 but heavily restricted at airports + government buildings.

November-specific considerations:

  • Rare but possible heavy rain can cause temporary road flooding (Nov 2022 + 2024 saw genuine deluges). Avoid low-lying underpasses during downpours. RTA has improved drainage significantly post-2024 but exceptionally heavy storms still cause 2-3 hour traffic disruption
  • Black Friday Nov 27 + late-November weekends bring heightened mall traffic and parking pressure. Use Metro for Dubai Mall + Mall of the Emirates visits
  • F1 buildup week (late November) brings significantly increased traffic around the E11 Sheikh Zayed Road corridor and Yas Island
  • Dubai Police's Mahasen smart fine system is real and active. Speeding (even 5km/h over), littering, eating-on-Metro all trigger automated fines AED 200-3,000 instantly

Common mistake: Bringing prescription medication without the original packaging + doctor's letter.
