From the organiser: Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 June 2027. No venue had been named for it by mid-October 2026; the previous edition, 18 to 20 June 2026, ran entirely at Fira Gran Via, from 5pm to 3am on the Thursday and 5pm to 7am on Friday and Saturday. A presale of full passes opened on 22 June 2026, and general sales were due after the summer.
Sónar is Barcelona’s festival of electronic music and digital creativity, three days and two all-night sessions in mid-June. It now runs on a single site, Fira Gran Via in L’Hospitalet, instead of a daytime venue on Montjuïc and a separate night one. Nobody under 18 gets in, and the last trains decide how you get home.
What Sónar actually is
Sónar has been running for more than thirty years, built on electronic and experimental music, and it now has editions on several continents. The Barcelona original is still the main event: live acts and DJ sets across six stages, three of them in the open air.
For most of its history the festival had two halves, Sónar by Day in the exhibition halls at the foot of Montjuïc and Sónar by Night at Fira Gran Via on the edge of the city. They have been merged, so a ticket covers one site from late afternoon until morning.
Its ideas strand, Sónar+D, is a separate programme of talks, workshops and exhibitions with its own tickets. For the latest edition it moved to Llotja de Mar, the old exchange building by the port.
How the days and nights run
- Thursday is the short day, from 5pm to 3am, with four of the six stages open. Friday and Saturday run from 5pm until 7am the next morning.
- Outdoors, SonarVillage on its artificial lawn carries live acts and DJ sets through the evening, SonarPark showcases newer club music and SonarLab leans to techno and UK sounds. Indoors, SonarClub is the big hall for the headline shows, with SonarHall and SonarCar beside it.
- The gates shut an hour before the music stops: no admission after 2am on Thursday or 6am at the weekend. Most wristbands allow one exit and return a day, as long as you go out before 11pm; VIP holders can come and go freely.
Tickets and what it costs
Three ticket types cover it: a Day Ticket for one day and its night, a Weekend Ticket for Friday and Saturday, and a SonarPass for all three, each also sold as VIP. For the most recent festival a Thursday ticket was €49 and a Friday or Saturday one €99, and the organiser raises prices in steps as the dates approach.
The cheapest full passes are the presale ones, which opened days after the most recent festival closed, at €155 for a SonarPass. Sónar+D needs its own ticket or a SonarPass+D.
Under-18s are refused at Fira Gran Via with no exceptions; children have their own event, Sónar Kids, ticketed separately. Inside, every bar and food truck takes cards, and there are cash points for anyone paying in notes.

Getting there
Fira Gran Via is in L’Hospitalet, about fifteen minutes from the centre. Metro line L9 stops at Fira station and runs direct from both airport terminals; on festival weekends it runs until 2am on Friday night and all night on Saturday.
FGC suburban trains from Plaça d’Espanya stop at Europa | Fira, a short walk away, but the last one out leaves around 2am on Friday and Saturday and before midnight on Thursday, and the first one back is just before six.
For the trip home, the festival’s own SonarBus runs every half hour to Plaça d’Espanya until 7:30am at the weekend, at €5 a journey, and seats are sold only in advance. Night buses, among them the N17 and N18 to the airport, stop at Plaça Europa nearby.
Mistakes worth avoiding
Heading for Montjuïc
Older guides send you to the daytime site at the foot of the hill. The whole festival is now at Fira Gran Via in L’Hospitalet.
Stepping out late and expecting to get back in
Leave after 11pm, or for a second time in a day, and an ordinary wristband will not readmit you.
Planning to buy a SonarBus seat at the stop
Nobody boards without a ticket bought beforehand. Book the return with your festival ticket, or plan on the metro.
Bringing anyone under 18
Not even with a parent. Sónar Kids is the family option.
Waiting for the full line-up before buying
Prices rise in stages as the festival nears, and the weekend tickets sold out last time.
