Confirmed by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW: 19 to 30 March 2027, at Sydney Showground in Sydney Olympic Park, running into the Easter long weekend. Ticket prices for this edition had not been published when this page was written. At the last edition, tickets were sold online only through Ticketmaster for a chosen day, entry opened at 8.30am, and every ticket included same-day return public transport.
The Royal Easter Show is the agricultural show that brings rural New South Wales into Sydney for twelve days around Easter. One ticket covers prize cattle and sheep, the towering produce displays of the District Exhibits, baby animals, the arena shows and fireworks at night, a carnival of rides and the showbags that every Sydney child remembers. It is a full day out at Sydney Olympic Park, west of the centre, and the trick is to go on a weekday, book your ticket for the day, and take the train.
What Royal Easter Show actually is
The Show goes back to the 1820s, when the colony’s farmers first met to compare their stock, and it is still run by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW as a competition before it is an entertainment. The judging rings, the woodchopping and the prize ribbons are real, and the produce in the District Exhibits, built by regions of the state into vast pictures made of fruit, vegetables and grain, is entered to win.
Around that sits the part the city comes for: the carnival rides, the showbag hall, the food, and an evening programme in the main arena that ends with fireworks. Recent editions have brought a human cannonball and high divers into it, and the Show’s own hot-air balloon.
What not to miss
- The animal pavilions and the farmyard nursery, where children can meet calves, lambs and chicks; go in the morning, when the animals are fresh and the queues short.
- The District Exhibits, in the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome: some of the most extraordinary things at the Show are made of pumpkins and wheat.
- The arena at night, for the evening show and the fireworks that close it. Find a seat in the stands before it starts.
- The showbag hall, if you have children with you. Set a budget before you go in.
Tickets and what it costs
Tickets are bought online for a set day, and the last edition sold them only through Ticketmaster; resellers’ tickets may be refused at the gate. Buy before you travel, because the ticket is also your fare: at the last edition it included the train or bus to Sydney Olympic Park and back on the same day.
Rides, food and showbags cost extra on top of entry. A late-afternoon ticket has been offered for families who want only the evening and the fireworks.

Getting there
Take the train to Olympic Park station, a few minutes’ walk from the gates; extra services run during the Show, and your entry ticket has covered the fare. Show the ticket to Transport NSW staff when asked.
Driving is the hard way. The car parks fill on weekends and over the Easter holidays, and the organisers urge booking a space in advance; shuttles run from the further car parks with priority for visitors with a disability, prams and older people.
Mistakes worth avoiding
Going on Easter weekend
The long weekend is when the grounds are fullest and parking runs out. A weekday in the first week is far calmer.
Trying to see everything
The Show is bigger than a day. Pick the animals, one arena session and the District Exhibits, and leave the rest.
Buying tickets from a reseller
Only the official seller’s tickets are guaranteed at the gate. Others may be turned away.
Leaving before dark
The arena programme and the fireworks close the day, and plenty of families head home before them. If you can, stay for the evening.
Dressing for the city
You will walk for hours across a large site, much of it outdoors on dirt and grass. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a hat.
